Zoolander 2 transface mocks with a giggle

zoolander 2

“ALL” an androgynous model  giggles when asked if they have a ‘hotdog, or ‘bun’ with no smiles it’s clear it’s not intended to be funny.

Ben Stiller’s Zoolander 2 calculated mockery of gender non-conformity has elicited outrage. It’s insidious delivery defensible, setting up Trans people who object to it as promotional pawns. This will play well to many who would pay to see his latest inane comedy. To those ignorant or unconcerned about gender non-conformity, it will hardly raise an eyebrow. But thanks to Stiller’s immoral baiting many more will go to the theater ready to laugh at us.

In the “Zoolander 2” trailer, “All” an androgynous model played by Benedict Cumberbatch is asked by Zoolander and Hansel if they are a ‘male or female model’. Confidently “All”  responds, “All is All”.

Gender to genitals the most basic transphobic meme.

But when pressed if they ‘have a hot dog or a bun’. “All” only offers an invalidating humorless giggle.

Cumberbatch was lauded by Planet Transgender last year for his portrayal of Alan Turing, the famous openly gay British code breaker of World War II. Cumberbatch, an advocate for gay rights became an ordained priest just to marry two friends.

But evidently Cumberbatch’s empathy ends where the money begins. Nice sellout Cumberbatch.

To those who would kill us Cumberbatch’s giggle is nothing less than a hilarious vindication of their murderous intent. 2015 US murder rate was twice that of last year’s. More transgender people were murdered in a single year that ever before. Mocking trans people is a crime.

A petition calling for the Boycott of Zoolander 2  for its “offensive representation of non-binary individuals” currently has over 7,000 signatures. The petition which targets Benedict Cumberbatch, Paramount Pictures and Ben Stiller states, “Cumberbatch’s character is clearly portrayed as an over-the-top, cartoonish mockery of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals. This is the modern equivalent of using blackface to represent a minority.”

But Ben Stiller is no stranger to dirty tricks.

The original Zoolander released in 2001 which grossed 60M worldwide was banned in Malaysia for depicting the country as impoverished and dependent on sweatshops.
