Historic Whxyte Wedding Fashion Show to Feature all Transgender models

Whxyte Wedding,

A state lawmaker, scientists, doctors, a naval commander, and yoga instructors will walk the runway September 7, 2019, for Whxyte Wedding, a first of a kind bridal fashion show fundraiser, featuring all transgender models.

Hana, Owner of Hana Designs, founder of Hana’s Hope and of the WhXYte Wedding began distributing wigs in 1980 to Colorado cancer survivors and later to trans people in need. Hana was diagnosed with cancer in 1990 and told CBS Denver that she received an outpouring of support from the transgender community and wanted a way to express her gratitude.

Professional models are teaching the runway walk, trendy fashion designers are supplying the gowns.

“This is something very exciting for me. It’s kind of a dream come true,” State Rep Brianna Titone said.

Organizers say the event is about celebrating gender diversity, creating awareness and inspiring inclusion.

“To show that we’re just part of the community like everyone else,” says Titone. “And, we want to be seen and respected for that.”

A ‘white wedding’ is a hetero cis normative affair where ‘white’ is celebrated as a monied privilege.

‘Whxyte Wedding’ is possibly a double entendre substituting chromosomal XY for the I, hence this fundraiser being introduced as the ‘most unconventional bridal fashion show ever’.

The event will take place at the History Colorado museum on Sept. 7 and will benefit three non-profits — Hana’s Hope, One Colorado and The Delores Project. To purchase tickets, visit www.whxytewedding.com.
