Welcome Padmini Baruah of Bangalore, India, our newest Journalist.

Padmini Baruah

Planet Transgender is thrilled to announce our newest Journalist Padmini Baruah from Bangalore. As you may be aware of India’s Supreme Court recriminalized homosexuality last year. Almost at the same time a new category was created for trans people called the third gender which will, in theory, allow them to live openly. There is much going on in the world’s largest democracy.

Padmini Baruah’s bio:

I’m a student of law at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. I’ve been out for over a year now and am a proud member of WHaQ. I’ve been working with ALF and other organisations as well, and am eager to explore intersectionality of the movement with forms of art especially street theatre. I’m interested in international human rights law in particular among the broader category of human rights laws, and I have been an active participant of the LGBTQ movement in Bangalore.

We are honored Padmini, welcome!
