Emma Hayes’ Queenland school had originally denied her access to the girls bathroom but after her mother complained the school relabeled the disabled toilet to read Unisex. Do this only served to increase the possibility of bullying by ‘othering’ her.
That wasn’t good enough, and her mother threatened to file a human rights complaint so the school threw in the towel, so to speak.
