Vetted trans medical providers are RAD and only a click away

You might remember “Trans411” with their transgender medical referral system that looked so hopeful?
Well, there’s a new kid on the BETA block. RAD.

What’s RAD?

According to RAD “We are an up and coming organization dedicated to connecting trans, gender non-conforming, intersex, and queer folks to accurate, safe, respectful, and holistic care in order to improve individual and community health. We are doing this initially through RAD (Referral Aggregator Database), which uses community organizations’ referral lists and features the reviews from folks like you.”

“We are currently doing a beta launch, pushing out the resources we have while we enter more data from across the country and work out the kinks. You can help us by recommending a provider, providing detailed reviews, volunteering, telling us when something breaks, or just by spreading the word!”

If you were to search the RAD website for “therapy” within a hundred-mile radius of San Fran today you might get this result. This is way cool since you wouldn’t have to wade through a yellow pages directory of every therapist and visit them before finding one who knew how to and were willing to treat transsexuals. These professionals have already been vetted by our own community members. Now that’s RAD.

Keeping in mind that this project is in its infancy. So even though they have 1.500 providers listed already you might not see yours.

How can you help? You could refer your provider after signing up and/or you could play bingo.

Supporters are invited to play Hambingo Sun, June 28th, 2015 at Hamburger Mary’s 5400 N Clark St Chicago, IL 60640. Bingo starts at 8:00pm. Folks can arrive at 7:45pm or later.

They’ll have prizes for the winner of each game, a possible celebrity caller or two, and one lucky winner will receive an Against Me! t-shirt autographed by Laura Jane Grace!

$15 for ten rounds of bingo, and $10 for an additional card. They’ll be able to accept cash or credit/debit card (via Square).

All proceeds go toward RAD Remedy’s mission of connecting trans, gender non-conforming, intersex, and queer folks nationwide to accurate, safe, respectful, and comprehensive care in order to improve individual and community health.

Sounds RAD!
