Transgender women Chutki and friend gunned down in Peshawar

Members of Trans Action PK responded quickly helping to identify the body of the murdered transgender woman writing “Our Trans sister Chutki (Danial) is shot 12 times according to the post-mortem report while her friend was shot 7 times. What a shame. What a sad incident.”

As reported by Radio Liberty:
Gunmen riding on a motorcycle have shot and killed a transgender woman and her friend in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar, police say.

The two were targeted as they traveled in a rickshaw late on March 27 and the motive for the killing was unknown, police officer Mohammad Tahir said.

Dozens of transgender people have been killed in recent years, mainly in the conservative Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, of which Peshawar is the capital.

The TransAction Alliance, a local rights group, says 55 have been killed there over the past three years.

We have handed over the body of our trans sister Chutki to her father and arranged an ambulance to take her body to her native village. Her funeral will be organized by her family tomorrow. The poor father when lifted her body whispered in her ear ” O my beautiful child why I have to lift your dead body”?
