Transgender woman gets 10 years for pumper death
Florida transgender woman Oneal Ron Morris was sentenced to 10 years on manslaughter charges Monday for injecting a toxic substance into the posterior of Shatarka Nuby, who later died. The procedure known as ‘pumping’ by beauty queen and drag artists causes the tissue to dramatically expand, hence the name ‘pumping’. The illegal albeit inexpensive shortcut involves injections of silicone and fix-a-flat by unlicensed individuals is often fatal to the recipients.
January 2014 Morris was sentenced to a year for practicing without a license. She escaped a possible 15-year sentence because police were unable to verify the contents of the injections due to the delays in reporting the crimes by the victims.
Shatarka Nuby died of respiratory failure from “massive systemic silicone migration” from injections to Nuby’s buttocks and hips, according to the medical examiner.
Morris was charged with manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license in the summer of 2012, and last month pleaded no contest to both, reported the Washington Post.
On Monday, a judge sentenced Morris to 10 years in a men’s prison and five years probation for her crimes
