Texas Transgender student denied use of Girls Bathroom

Texas Transgender student Adelyn Vigil was met with transgender slurs at her new school which then added injury to insult by denying her the use of the girl’s bathroom.

Her mother said that Adelyn Vigil has been told to use the nurses or the library’s single-stall bathroom at the Rio Grande Valley School. Adelyn said she will just wait until she is at home.

Adelyn Vigil

I didn’t meet Adelyn Vigil during our victorious bathroom bill fight but from her pictures, it’s clear we shared the same spaces. At just 12 years of age, this young trans advocate is a veteran.

For the record, Adelyn was not ‘born a boy’.  Like all transgender women, she was born with a body that is incongruent with their true gender.

And for the record ‘this doesn’t happen all of the time’. But it has happened and every time it does we unite and drive the bigots back, tails between their legs, to whatever hateful place that they came from.

In any case, she shouldn’t have to be traumatized again by the haters. Adelyn Vigil has earned the right to be respected something that most cisgender people feel is conferred at birth.
