“I will not spend a single dollar with any business that says a man can enter a bathroom with the women in my family or your family,” Patrick posted on Facebook in support of a known hate group’s petition. “Last week Target announced they would allow men in women’s bathrooms. I won’t shop there again.”
By Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick vowing to never patronize any store with a transgender public accommodations policy he has encouraged the demise of nearly all of the states major retailers. His post on facebook has thousand of Texans commenting and liking it agreeing that they would never again patronize a store with these ‘liberal policies’.
Dan Patrick has effectively called for a boycott of not only Target but Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Chevron, CVS Health, eBay, GameStop, Home Depot, Macy’s, Nike, Office Depot OfficeMax, Tech Depot, Sears, Kmart and Staples to name a few. All of these Texas retailers have public accommodations policies specifically allowing trans people access.
If the people who liked his Facebook post carry through on their pledges, Dan Patrick’s transphobia will cost the state of Texas millions in revenue and thousands of jobs. But the reality is people will continue to patronize these retailers with the possible exception of the one that Dan Patrick picked out specifically to Target. Makes you wonder how Target board members feel about Texas expansion.
And how do those other retailers? How do they feel knowing that in Texas they might be next?
Patrick said, “this is such an easy thing”.
Dan Patrick posted his transphobia on twitter and facebook both which promote trans equality:
@DanPatrick Where has this been a problem Dan? Have you found one case?

Yes, it is Patrick there has never been a SINGLE INSTANCE of a transgender person using a public accommodations law to commit a crime in the restroom.
Patrick goes on to say that this is about common sense and keeping women safe.
If Patrick was truly concerned about keeping women safe in the bathroom he would strengthen existing laws, you know the ones that are enforced daily. There are people who attack woman daily. Those people should be your focus Dan Patrick, not a law abiding hard working minority.
Dan Patrick. Your issue is about women it’s all about a minority that makes you feel uncomfortable. Which begs the question, how many other minorities make Dan Patrick uncomfortable?
