Katie Falkenberg / Los Angeles Times Police officers arrived on the scene and ordered the protesters from the street. The protesters complied, moving to the sidewalks where the rally continued. No arrests were made.

Dozens of transgender and gender non-conforming protesters shut down a busy intersection in southern California to highlight transphobic violence Friday. There have been four transgender people murdered in Southern California since the year began.

With police helicopter hovering above protesters expressed frustration at police for not paying attention to their day-to-day safety, noting that if they did, some of the murdered trans women might be alive today.
Another protester was angry at the industrial prison complex and the social machinery which feeds it transgender lives.
