North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed HB2 into law a few hours after it was rushed through special session today according to The Charlotte Observer.
The law which preempts local :GBT inclusive ordinances came under immediate fire from human rights group.
The NC League of Cities, who’s members enacted the local LGBT-inclusive ordinances and gubernatorial candidate North Carolinian adjutant general Roy Cooper all issued statements hyper critical of this illegal law.
In a bizarre Orwellian twist the legislation, HB2, framed as a ‘non-discrimination law’ inserted the word ‘biological’ in front of the protected class ‘sex’ requiring a student to use the restroom and locker room which is indicated on their birth certificate.
Ordinance defied common sense, allowing men to use women’s bathroom/locker room for instance. That’s why I signed bipartisan bill to stop it
