Police are searching for Jamson Richemond in connection with the murder of transgender woman Bee Love Slater after discovering a now-deleted Facebook post by him ‘B Love need to die’.
Bee Love Slater made national news after her body was found burned nearly beyond recognition in her car on Sept. 4 in Clewiston, a city located about 115 miles northwest of Miami.
Jamson Richemond, 29, who lived 30 miles from the crime scene was identified by the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office as a person of interest, WPBF-TV reports.
Slater’s best friend, Kenard Wade, told CBS Fort Myers affiliate WINK he believes Slater was targeted as a member of the LGBTQ community. He told the station Slater, who lived in Pahokee, about 30 miles from where her body was found, had received threats the day she was found slain. She reportedly told him she wanted to leave town to avoid trouble.
Richemond is still on the run. Deputies urged anyone who knows his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS. Tipsters could be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
