Trevone H. Miller was arrested Thursday for the murder of transgender woman Brayla Stone according to reporter Ashley Godwin with THV11 Little Rock. As we reported Brayla Stone, 17, was shot and killed in Sherwood Arkansas on June 25, 2020.
Trevone Hayse Miller, 18, was picked up Thursday on warrants dating back to 2016 when as a minor he testified against 2 cousins and was conditionally paroled for a Capital Murder charge under the Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction Act. That law allowed him to be sent to prison if he is not deemed to be rehabilitated by the time he turns 21.
Miller had just made bail in March when he was picked up on an identity-theft and robbery warrant. Miller was free despite having tried to run from the officer, having a gun in his possession, and being on parole.
Tragically, misgendering and deadnaming sows confusion, emboldens haters like the one who shot Brayla, disheartens those who knew her, dehumanizes the entire trans community, and inevitably delays or in worst cases denies justice to transgender victims of violence.
Her family who spoke on the interview below dishonored Brayla Stone by repeatedly misgendering her despite her so visibly coming out to them as a transgender woman.
If her family truly cares as they surely do they need to listen to the 50 people were able to attend her vigil and the nearly quarter of a million who signed the Change.org petition Justice for Brayla Stone.
