NC Gov. McCrory didn’t listen when NBA Commissioner Adam Silver warned that the 2017 All-Star Game would be moved if HB2 stood. Instead, McCrory used his moments in the spotlight to boast about how ineffectual the most vulnerable in his state were in comparison to his perceived power. He should have listened. This will cost the good people of NC much in ways of self-esteem and pride. Then there is the 100 million dollars Charlotte loses. As an American, I would never wish that on any of our city’s. There is no celebrating that, but this is a victory not just for LGBT people but for ALL the people that the vile #HB2 targets.
July 21, 2016 – The Charlotte Hornets and Chairman Michael Jordan today released the following statement regarding the 2017 NBA All-Star Game:
“We understand the NBA’s decision and the challenges around holding the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte this season. There was an exhaustive effort from all parties to keep the event in Charlotte, and we are disappointed we were unable to do so. With that said, we are pleased that the NBA opened the door for Charlotte to host All-Star Weekend again as soon as an opportunity was available in 2019. We want to thank the City of Charlotte and the business community for their backing throughout this entire process, starting with the initial bid. We are confident that they will be just as supportive and enthusiastic for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.”

April the NCAA announced starting next season they will require host state be #HB2 Free. Appaently McCrory wasn’t paying attention and he still isn’t. He still trying to make this a people of North Carolina against the world war.
The NY Times reports that Gov. Pat McCrory issued a blistering statement soon after the announcement by the N.B.A. He said “the sports and entertainment elite,” among others, had “misrepresented our laws and maligned the people of North Carolina simply because most people believe boys and girls should be able to use school bathrooms, locker rooms and showers without the opposite sex present.”
Mr. McCrory, a Republican, did not specifically refer to the N.B.A. in his statement, but he said that “American families should be on notice that the selective corporate elite are imposing their political will on communities in which they do business, thus bypassing the democratic and legal process.”
