Muhlaysia Booker murdered just days after video of her beating went viral

Dallas transgender woman Muhlaysia Booker was found dead in her car Saturday morning, shot by an unknown assailant.

Police responded to the shooting call in the 7200 block of Valley Glen Drive at around 6:40 a.m near the Tenison Park Golf Course. She was found dead from a gunshot wound according to CBS11

She was murdered just weeks after a video of her being beaten surrounded by a crowd shouting transphobic slurs went viral.

The FBI was asked by the Dallas Police to investigate the beating of Booker as a possible hate crime. The FBI would not confirm if it had opened a formal investigation.

Edward Thomas, 29 was offered $200 to beat Booker and was subsequently charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and was being held on a $75.000 bond.
According to police Thomas was no longer in jail and police did not know where he was. However, they said there was nothing to connect him to this murder.

Police currently have no leads.
