Update: An arrest has been made according to Fox news Edward Thomas, 29, was arrested late Sunday for his alleged role in an attack on a transgender woman.
A sickening mob attack on a transgender woman Friday shared thousands of times on FaceBook is being investigated by police as a possible hate crime.
The victim identified as Muhlaysia Booker was involved in a minor traffic accident prior to the assault can be seen in the video being hit and kicked by multiple assailants.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings condemned the attack saying “Those who did this do not represent how Dallasites feel about our thriving LGBTQ community. We will not stand for this kind of behavior.”
Dallas, which has some of Texas’ best nondiscrimination ordinances is under attack again this year by the state legislature as it tries once again to pass laws invalidating those protections. The State Senate just passed a bill which if signed into law, may have resulted in the hospital legally refusing to treat Muhlaysia Booker because of her transgender status.
Warning. The video contains sickening and disturbing violence.
