A Northeast Pennsylvania woman shot her two Children in Ambridge, Beaver County, Pa on Monday Monday. 48-year-old Krisinda Bright shot and killed her 16-year-old transgender son, Jeffrey “JJ” Bright, and his cisgender sister 22-year-old Jasmine Cannady according to the District Attorney.
A criminal complaint released this morning revealed that Bright confessed to police what happened this morning. Bright said that she killed her children because she was afraid someone would take afraid that “someone would take them.”
Bright told police that she shot the first child as they were sleeping in bed. She then went downstairs and tried to kill her other child, but the gun misfired. Her other child pleaded with her not to kill them, but she cleared the jam and shot them in the face. When they didn’t immediately die Bright got a different gun, shot them again and killed them.
Police said that both children died from gunshot wounds to the face.
According to PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS 4 she told a neighbor that she had been “302ed’,meaning that she had been involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital because she potentially poised a danger to herself of those around her. This is a short term stay for evaluation followed up with a ‘303’ hearing in where it decided if the patient should be held for the long term.
