McCrory to call special session to repeal HB2, if Charlotte caves to bullying

McCrory

McCrory spokesman Josh Ellis said today in a statement that the governor would call a special session if two requisites are met: Charlotte must move first to repeal its expanded protections to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people; and secondly, a majority of lawmakers must be in favor of repeal.

“If the Charlotte City Council totally repeals the ordinance and then we can confirm there is support to repeal among the majority of state lawmakers in the House and Senate, the governor will call a special session,” Ellis told the Associated Press.

Like a punch drunk fighter MCrory is reeling from the latest round of economic sanctions. This week the ACC joined the NCAA and NBA by moving Championship Games From NC over HB2 prompting pragmatic republican politicians to call for the repeal of HB2.

Perhaps McCrory has been advised that he can not win and is looking for a face-saving gesture by the Charlotte council. Perhaps McCrory would back the repeal of HB2 with the same zeal he supported it in the spring.

Like that’s a possibility.

He’s a bigot intent on humiliating the proponents of equality and destroying any opportunity that LGBT people might live normal productive lives in North Carolina.

While McCrory’s office make big story of the sporadic twenty or thirty new jobs in the state, major economic wrecking balls are doing millions of dollars of damage which he downplays as ‘political theater’ or ‘PC BS’.

Human Rights Campaign executive JoDee Winterhof called the proposed exchange the “same cheap trick the North Carolina General Assembly has attempted all along”

The show is over and the curtain is falling but McCrory wants to land a sucker punch by bullying the Charlotte council into repealing their transgender-inclusive human rights Ordinance.
