The man who confessed to shooting a Dallas Transgender woman on August 20 was freed on bail Sept 26th the day after his arrest.

Domingo Ramirez-Cavente, a Mexican national confessed to shooting 35-year-old Daniela Calderon has been released to the streets according to the Dallas Morning News. The victim who underwent surgery for seven bullet wounds was made aware of his release after reading the News according to The Advocate.

According to the Dallas Police Department Domingo Ramirez-Cavente confessed to yelling transphobic slurs at the victim. When Daniela Calderon had enough she went to wait for a bus. Domingo Ramirez-Cavente observed her standing alone and shot her seven times striking her in the abdomen and arms.

Organizacion Latina de Trans en Texas held a protest outside of the Dallas Police DepartmentTuesday morning demanding that Domingo Ramirez-Cavente be charged with a hate crime.
