FIRED: Lee Livengood, Principal who demanded a trans student use a urinal

Lee Livengood Fired

Each time a signature was added to our petition an email was sent to Harrison County School District superintendent Mark A. Manchin demanding that he fire Lee Livengood.

Lee Livengood was fired according to WV Metro News following his attack on a transgender student.

And in addition, in my opinion, Livengood needs to be put on a sexual offender list.

What this guy did was beyond creepy. Beyond bigoted. Beyond Reason. It was an unprovoked attack on the personhood of the student in which Livengood encouraged students to take part in.

As we reported in December Lee Livengood, the assistant principal at Liberty High School in Clarksburg, W.Va., followed 15-year-old transgender student Michael Critchfield into the boys’ restroom on Nov. 27, went to the closed stall that he was in and demanded that he use a urinal if he was a ‘real boy’.

Then Livengood opened the door to the hallway, blocked the exit, and continued verbally harassing this student intentionally loud enough for students in the hallway to hear.

When the student finally exited the bathroom Livengood told him in front of other students “Not going to lie. You freak me out.”

I was glad that he was forbad to have contact with the transgender student immediately following this aggression. I am glad that Livengood was temporarily suspended.  And I am happy that the BOE refused to renew his contract but superintendent Mark A. Manchin, you didn’t go far enough.

They need to keep this predator away from all students forever.
