Daniela Calderon-Rivera almost didn’t make it to her rally tonight. But she found the strength to do so at the last minute. She was heartened when hearing about the people who care about her were gathered at the Frank Crowley Criminal Courts Building in Dallas.

“I would love for there to be justice for me,” a visibly shaken Daniela Calderon-Rivera said, “Emotionally and physically, I’m not doing well. I’ve been having moments of anxiety and panic. And all I ask for is for justice.”

Daniela Calderon-Rivera is the victim of not one, but three transphobic hate crimes.

  • She was forced to flee Mexico due to transphobic hate and violence.
  • On arrival in Dallas, Daniela shot six times in a documented hate crime attack.
  • The man who confessed to trying to kill her was freed on bail and hasn’t been seen since.

Domingo Ramirez-Cayente confessed to police that he shouted derogatory remarks about gay and transgender people before opening fire and shooting Daniela multiple times.

On September 26th, Domingo Ramirez-Cayente was released from jail after signing a written confession the day after his arrest and without so much as a monitoring device. Since posting bail, Domingo Ramirez-Cayente has fled and can not be found.

Magistrate Hal Turley may have no regard for trans lives but we do matter and we will continue to demand justice for Daniela.

Daniela Calderon-Rivera speaks to The Dallas Voice, The Dallas Morning News and a multitude of other reporters about the injustice she has suffered.

We are not going to stand for this not one more second.

The crimes against Daniela Calderon-Rivera won’t be brushed aside or forgotten. We the community demand that Chief U. Reneé Hall, Sheriff Marian Brown, Judge Hal Turley, and District Attorney John Creuzot FIND HER ATTACKER, Domingo Ramirez-Cayente, and BRING JUSTICE TO DANIELA!

Rally orgainzer activist Stacey Renée Monroe has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for Daniela’s medical expenses which we know can be astronomical. To date she has raised $20,000 of a $30,000 goal.

Daniela Calderon-Rivera a woman of faith was comforted as we all were by the presnce of a woman in pastorial clothing in it self an act of defiance. Speaking truth to hate Cathedral of Hope pastor Rev. Erin Wyma offered prayers puting an explanation point at the end of the rally #justiceforDaniela
