Council Tuesday overwhelmingly voted in favor of legislation recognizing same-sex marriages from other states as marriage in the District — a move lauded by lawmakers as a step toward legalizing gay marriage in the city. “This is the march towards human rights and equality,” said Council member David A.     Leave it to Vermont and Iowa to be the most progressive states in the nation, shame on us here in California for passing Prop 9. Not sure if DC will pass it anytime soon, but I am hopeful. Whether you call it Gay Marriage or Civil Union, the basic premise is that every person should have equal rights.
