Transgender woman Keanna Mattel was found shot Friday morning just blocks from where she had spoken out in 2015 about the murder of Amber Monroe.

LGBT activists identified the slain transgender woman as Keanna Mattel, according to INTO

While police reports have yet to identify her by name, they have arrested a 46-year-old man in what they believe was a botched robbery.

Living in Palmer Park alone makes trans women a target

Mattel had spoken to The Guardian regarding police targeting and resulting social stigmatization that led to 2015 murder of transgender woman Amber Monroe.

“The police are unaware with our struggle so they have no sympathy for us,” she told the Guardian. “Nobody ever asks, what happened to that person to get here?”
