The 36-year-old Detroit Transgender woman, Chocolate had been talking with friends Friday Morning when she left their company and began walking alone up Woodward. Her night ended suddenly and violently leaving her paralyzed with two bullets lodged near her spine. Her friend said that he believes she was targeted for her gender expression and the two men planned to kill her for that reason when they jumped out of their SUV with a weapon in hand.
What Charles Brown, 21 and Jujuan Williams, 19 didn’t know was that the attack was done in front of a red light camera which alerted the police and recorded the entire incident.
Williams was caught after a short chase which ended when he crashed the SUV. Brown, the shooter, escaped on foot but was captured Saturday morning.
Brown and Williams were arraigned on multiple charges in 36th District Court in Detroit Monday on the TDOR.
fox2detroit reports that Brown is facing assault with intent to commit murder, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm, armed robbery resulting in serious injury, armed robbery, fleeing and eluding, use of a firearm in connection with a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, and being a habitual offender – second offense.
Williams was charged with armed robbery resulting in serious injury, armed robbery, use of a firearm in connection with a felony, felon in possession of a firearm, and being a habitual offender – fourth offense.
