Homeless man Daejon Workman Arrested for Philly Transgender Attack

Daejon Workman attacked transgender woman Ryannah Quigley as she walked along a Philadelphia street after attending the Creating Change Conference.

Ryannah Quigley told Action News she’s relieved the man seen in cell phone video assaulting her has been arrested.

“I just got the call and I’m very happy,” Quigley said.

On January 20, 2017, at 4:40 pm, a transgender woman, along with two friends, were walking on the 1300 block of Filbert Street when they were approached by an unknown black male. As words were exchanged the suspect struck the victim while shouting homophobic and transphobic slurs. After the assault the suspect fled the area on foot and was last seen north on Broad Street.

The Philly Police report that on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 7:42 am, officers observed a male at the Frankford Terminal located at 5223 Frankford Avenue wearing the same clothes as the suspect depicted in the surveillance and was quickly arrested without further incident.

Daejon Workman is 25 years-of age and is currently homeless. Workman is charged with simple assault recklessly endangering another person.
