Transgender woman Koko Nia Labeija, 19 was found dead by police in an abandoned warehouse on April 6, 2020. But due to her decomposed state, her existence remained unknown until recently.
Thanks to the work of Kaylara Owl and the Trans Lives Matters project her next of kin can have some closure.
Kaylara Owl alerted the TDoR project on Twitter to her death and from there they were able to match the time and date with the government missing person records.
I wasn’t aware of this case. I’ll add a page for them to our site.
Please let me know if you manage to learn anything else or have any other source links.
