Biden on Trump’s discrimination Administration: We will Flat Out Change The Laws

Presidential candidate Joe Biden went full out trans supportive while responding to a question by a transgender parent last night. The last question during ABC’s virtual town hall had Biden bowing and shaking his head.

Mieke Haeck, from State College, Pa., told Biden she’s the “proud mom” of two girls, ages 8 and 10, and the youngest child being transgender, as first reported by the Washington Blade.

Haeck asked what Biden’s intentions are given the Trump administration has “attacked the rights of transgender people,” pointing out the transgender military ban, weakening of non-discrimination protections and removal of the word “transgender” from government websites.

Joe Biden did not hesitate in his answer that first, he said he would remove Trump’s decrees and then write laws to protect her daughter.

There are many comments about this on Facebook but none so poignant than those shared by our transgender community. Briana T Sandy wrote “THIS moment from last night gave an entire community of ten million Americans hope.?”

This couldn’t be said better. Just as love knows no boundaries, neither does bigotry. Trump, while in office has proven that to be true. His hateful rhetoric and discriminatory decrees aren’t limited to gender diverse people. Trump, a man who abhors disavowing white supremacy, has attacked every minority protected by the US constitution and then some.

While Joe Biden stumbled on the terminology his intentions are clear. There have been 45 wrongful deaths in the United State this year for the 46th president to confront.

The United States ended the 2020 TDoR (Transgender Day of Remembrance) reporting period with a record of 45 wrongful deaths, the most reported since record-keeping began in 1998.

The TDoR which is marked with solemn ceremonies on November 20, has a reporting period between October 1, and September 30.

Laws must be written for the likes of Amy Coney Barrett to base their legal rulings on.

Biden’s success is of utmost importance given the inevitable confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett. In 2017 she has evaded questions regarding her affiliations with hate groups and her endorsement by the Family Research Council an anti-LGBT hate group.
