Planet Transgender mourns the news that a transgender woman from Bhopal, India has died from respiratory complications due to COVID-19.

According to Outlook India, the unnamed victim was the first reported death of a transgender person due to COVID-19 in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

The 40-year-old transgender woman from Kolipura locality in the old city area died after two days’ hospitalization due to breathing problems. according to webindia123.

The rising number of coronavirus patients in Madhya Pradesh has alarmed the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. The Health Department said 116 new cases were added overnight to take the total number 3,457 by Saturday evening. On Saturday, 29 corona deaths were reported.

The Quint reports that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, on Sunday, neared the 63,000-mark with 3,277 new cases and 127 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
