Video: Pakistani police caught trying to rape a trans woman walk free
Video was just posted of a foiled rape attempt of trans woman Sidra, district coordinator of TransAction Alliance, Swabi District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
TransAction Alliance posted video of the May 30th attack on facebook commenting: “Three armed people trespassed their house and attempted to rape them. Our brave sister defended themselves and two of them ran away while the third was locked in the room and handed over to Police who set the attacker free without any further actions.
According to a TransAction spokesperson the three men inside the transgender woman’s house are policemen from the main police station in Swabi. When their fellow policemen officers arrived, they quickly released them.
According to the TransAction Spokesperson, the policeman was saying . “They locked me for nothing” and Saidra was saying he tried to rape us with his friends”
Rape is a violent practice used worldwide to silence women. This will fail as this egregious abuse of authority will only serve to further awaken the world to the plight of Pakistani transgender community.
The attack happened just days after the murder of transgender woman Alesha in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Prior to her murder transgender people in this region of Pakistan were routinely raped and murdered without so much as a mention by news outlets.
